We have already lost elections; Know the mood of change – Asiedu Nketia | Policy

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) General Secretary, Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has given empirical evidence of what this means and believes for a political party to lose an election and to be in opposition.

Speaking on the Accra-based Citi channel, General Mosquito, as he is commonly known in politics, testified to what his party (NDC) felt after the loss of important elections in Ghana and signs that people want political change.

"We lost elections before the elections of 2004 and 2000, seven to eight months after that defeat, nobody could talk on the radio on behalf of the NDC and even if you were driving in town, you feared identify as NDC.

"So we found that the mood of the people was in favor of change and they got it," he said.

However, General Mosquito added that with the election of 2016, even though they lost, they are confident of being able to rebound in 2020 to run the country because the history of their defeat is different.

"The 2016 elections, the day after our defeat when I drove to Accra, always cheered me and that's why the party was able to get up quickly," he said.

Nketia said some electoral problems were behind their loss in the 2016 elections.

"The president of the Electoral Commission (EC) at the time announced that his system had been hacked and that such a claim from the EC could potentially affect the integrity of the election result , as the presidential candidate of the CND, then its president, lost nearly a million votes, "he added.
