Fans waited all morning to hear the star of the US National Women's Team, Megan Rapinoe. When she finally took the microphone to close the celebration of victory, she had a powerful message to share.

Rapinoe was the last to speak at the Wednesday parade in New York City and asked everyone who listened to it to have two things: to unite and dispel intolerance.

The winner of the Golden Boot and Golden Ball scored six goals for the USWNT, including the decisive goal on a penalty (2-0 victory in the final against the Netherlands).

Rapinoe praised her teammates, joked about those who called her to be a presidential candidate and expressed her hope for improvement for the American Football Federation. She has even expressed her support to the American president of football, Carlos Cordeiro, also present.

She also spoke about the diversity of identities that make up the American women's team.

"This group is so resilient, is so hard, has such a sense of humor," Rapinoe said. "It's so tough to cook, nothing can discourage this group.

"We have pink hair and purple hair, we have tattoos and dreadlocks, we have white girls and black girls, and all the rest, heterobadual girls and homobadual girls."

The co-captain is known for using her platform to denounce social injustice and support women and LGBTQ rights. She was greeted with both applause and criticism.

It was after his message of gratitude that Rapinoe delivered an improvised message that touched the listeners.

"It's my responsibility to everyone: we need to be better, we have to love more, hate less, we have to listen more and talk less, we need to know that it's the responsibility of everyone, everyone here Every person who is not here, every person who does not want to be here, every person who is in agreement and who does not agree, "Rapinoe said. "It's our responsibility to make this world a better place."

The US team took the responsibility to do it in its own way. They filed a lawsuit against US Soccer as part of its fight for equal pay. They always protested against those who criticized them for their lack of inconvenience throughout the tournament, and they loved to lobby to prove their quality.

"Yes, we play sports, yes, we play football, yes, we are female athletes, but we are so much more than that, you are so much more than that," Rapinoe told the crowd.

"There has been so much arguing over the last few years … But it's time to get together, this conversation is at the next stage, we need to collaborate, it takes everybody. Accountability to everyone: Do what you can Do what you need to do Get out of your own, be more, be better, be bigger than ever.

In the purest Rapino style, she ended her speech by sending the crowd one last time.

"New York City, you're the mother —— better!"
