Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Ade Coker said it was necessary to know the voting behavior of North Tongu MP Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa when he was a member of the parliamentary appointments committee when checking out President Akufo- Addo’s ministerial candidates.
Mr. Ablakwa resigned from the commission on Wednesday March 31.
He said in a letter to President Alban Kingsford Bagbin that the decision was made “after days of careful consideration and thoughtful thinking”.
“I want to say that the reasons for this difficult decision are both personal and principled.”
The indications are that he resigned based on the announcement that the Committee unanimously approved the Minister of Finance appointing Ken Ofori Atta.
Speaking on key points on TV3 on Saturday April 3, Mr. Ade Coker told host Abena Tabi that “In the future, your parliamentary vote record may be withdrawn. If you go to the United States, there is no such thing as consensus.
“We will have to find out during the verification process what its [Ablakwa’s] the voting line was. This will determine and help us to pass judgment on what he says about principles.
“If you had consistently voted against the nominees, that sounds good, so you can say there is no point in being on the committee for me.
“I want to know how the poll went. if the voting model went in such a way that you lost, then you are forced to accept the results of what took place, but here we are, they only come to tell us that it is a consensus.
