“ We were disappointed ” – SRC laments poor Wi-Fi connectivity on campus

The University of Ghana Student Representative Council (UGSRC) lamented the poor Wi-Fi connectivity on campus since the start of the first semester of the 2020/2021 academic year for 100 and 400 levels.

A statement signed by the President of the Student Representative Council (SRC), Nana Kwame Amo Ntow, on Tuesday, February 23, 2021, pointed out that despite the assurance of the Director of Information Technology (CITO) to resolve the connectivity issues wifi on campus before 2020/2021 Academic Year, “there are no tangible results to show for all insurances.”

The statement went on to point out that the CBC had not had information on WiFi data distributors since the start of the semester, as students continued to bemoan poor WiFi connectivity on campus.

“So far, we haven’t seen any of these access points (Wi-Fi data distributors) installed on campus, and our students continue to complain about poor Wi-Fi connectivity. heat all of this as we continue to assure the students of the progress of the project, but unfortunately we were disappointed, ”the statement said.

The statement further urged management to take seriously concerns raised by the SRC as students struggle to study online.

“It should be noted that according to the data collected by the SRC Intelligence Committee, the majority of our students have difficulty studying online. In fact, students deliberately study exams, quizzes, and homework. We believe that these approaches only to education do not meet the mission and vision of the University. “

The SRC has also called on the university leadership to reverse its decision to hold on-site exams online due to the recent wave of coronavirus disease in the country.

“SRC management further employs your office to review the decision to conduct the first semester of the first student program (100 and 400) on site. This is due to the current wave of pandemic in Ghana and around the world, ”part of the statement read.
