National Democratic Congress (NDC) national communications official Mr. Sammy Gyamfi said the party would not make a decision on the claim for legal redress on the declaration of the December 7 election results until after it has completed its audit of all the pink leaves in the various constituencies.
Going to court was not the only legal option the party had under the constitution, he said.
“There are so many options available to the party and the party leadership will make a decision to go to court after the current ongoing audit,” Gyamfi said at a press conference in Accra yesterday.
“We absolutely have the right to launch into these demonstrations without prejudice to the other options available to us as a party,” he said.
Audit
Mr. Gyamfi noted that the party would officially communicate its intentions to the media after the audit.
He further reiterated the party’s position to reject the results declared by the Election Commission (EC), alleging that the real verdict of the electorate had been stolen for the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Proof
In what he described as four compelling pieces of evidence assembled by the NDC, he said there were numerous cases of vote padding for the NPP and its presidential candidate and “strange cases” of over. -vote in many constituencies.
Mr Gyamfi said that the lack of manually or electronically verified voters on the faces of more than 10,000 pink sheets and the obvious mathematical flaws in the results declared by the EC were sufficient grounds to reject the results declared by the EC .
“All objective minds should have joined with us in rejecting these results from the start,” he said.
Over-voting
Mr Gyamfi said the EC also failed to provide space for presidents to record the number of voters who went through manual and biometric verification before voting.
This, he said, was a major disaster for the “bizarre” cases of over-voting recorded in constituencies.
He said the party informed the EC of the situation before the elections but nothing had been done about it.
“Even after informing the EC of the anomaly, they apologized and promised that they would rectify it, but they went behind our back to distribute the pink sheets to the constituencies without rectifying it”, he said. said.
He said the party was taking steps to have the EC recompose the votes cast in Zabzugu constituency in the north region and in Techiman south constituency in Bono East region.
