Former President John Dramani Mahama has issued a warning to the new Patriotic Party (NPP): [NDC] will "match boot for boot" so they do not refrain from attacking their members.
Mr. Mahama, who gave the warning at a meeting with supporters of Adaklu's constituency, said: "We will not be joking in 2020 and I'm throwing a warning at the NPP – we're going to face them for once. "

His comment comes in the aftermath of the shooting that occurred Thursday during the partial election of Ayawaso West Wuogon, which caused the death of about 18 people.
During his address, Mr. Mahama said: "We respect the constitution of this country and the NDC is a democratic party, which is why we respect the rules of the constitution. But the same constitution says that Ghanaians must resist anyone who tries to subvert the constitution. When you unleash the forces and intimidate people when they should vote, you overthrow the constitution. And we have the right to resist you. "
"I want to remind you that NDC has a revolutionary root and that when it comes to unleashing violence, no one can beat us. It is just that we have given birth to democracy in this country and that is why we must be the first to respect it. That's why we act as a docile party and respectful of the rule of law. But if we believe that the government can not protect our people and use its vigilante groups and illegal forces to intimidate, harbad and hurt our people, we may need to advise, "he added.
