Dr Archibald Yao Letsa, regional minister for Volta, warned local assemblies in the region against corrupt practices, saying those arrested would not be protected.

We will hand them over to the police, and there will be no excuse, ”said Dr Letsa, adding that the inaction of the oversight bodies had caused the spread of corrupt practices in all assemblies, and called for the firm desire to maintain ethics and professionalism. standards. The regional minister called on the heads of the various assemblies to show strong leadership and strive to resist the corrupt forces lurking within the structure of local government.
“We need strong leaders who are not compromised and polluted by the technocrats in the Assembly. You must have the will to check for corruption. Do what you have been given to do. If you are compromised for the first time, the entire four years are compromised, ”he said.
Dr Letsa revealed a rot discovered by the regional coordinating body and explained in detail how a person paid 550,000 GHC as a consultant by one of the assemblies turned out to be an illiterate hairdresser.
“These things shouldn’t happen. Once we do things like these, we are not serving our people. We are diverting money intended for the people into our own pockets. Why can’t we add a little dignity and self-respect to our lives?
“Is life all about money? So much so that we cannot take on the responsibility that God has given us? He asked, adding, “it’s not about ourselves, it’s about people.”
The regional minister argued that the performance of assemblies in the region could not align with the recent selection of the coordinating council as one of the best in the country, and the performance conference, which was an innovative initiative, has been taught to help reorient public servants.
He congratulated all departments working with the VRCC for their dedication to service, with an Outstanding Commendation to the Archives Department.
Mr. Cyril Dzinyanu Xatse, head of the human resources department of the VRCC, congratulated the office of the head of the local government department for the establishment of the performance management system regime.
