Okponglo Sinkhole 720x375 A look at the chasm of the Okponglo Road

The Ministry of Roads and Highways says it will take a week to repair the Madina-Tetteh Quarshie main road in Okponglo.

Part of the road broke Tuesday, impeding traffic and posing a threat to motorists moving from Okponglo to East Legon.

The situation also resulted in the closure of a section of the road.

Winifred Nafisa Mahama, Public Relations Manager at Citi News' Ministry of Roads and Roads, said motorists should sign on to road safety signs while on the road.

"A pipe burst under the road, causing this part of the road to collapse. Engineers from the Urban Roads Department were sent to badess the situation. Based on their badessment, this section of the road will be closed to allow the start of work. "

"The work will primarily involve the replacement of the pipeline to allow residents to have access to water. After that, existing materials in the soil have been removed and replaced, and the soil will be compacted before sealing. The whole process will take about a week. We urge all road users to be cautious when traveling to this section of the road and to comply with all safety rules and signage that will be placed on the road. "

Traffic was intense after the transfer of the Madina-Tetteh Quarshie road.
