The Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) will publish the provisional results of the 2021 Population and Housing Census (PHC) on Wednesday, September 22, 2021.
The 2021 edition of the PHC began in June and ended in July with a mop-up exercise after officers deployed to collect the data failed to complete the work by the end of the originally stipulated schedule.
After taking the time to compile all the data, the GSS says it is ready to release the provisional results of the PHC 2021 this week.
This was announced by government statistician Professor Samuel Anim, who spoke at a press conference in Accra.
“… .In the release document, we have six core products that we’re going to release and eight other products that were going to come out as well.
“So we are going to start these publications with the results that we are going to publish on September 22, 2021 which will give us the provisional figures that we have so far seen from the population and housing census of 2021”, said the professor. Samuel Anim.
He continued: “This will be followed by a report on residential proximity to essential services which is scheduled for October 18, 2021, and in this report we are going to get a feel for how the residential units are grouped together, how far they come from essential services and through essential services, how further they are.
“In November, as we celebrate Africa Statistics Day which is a weeklong activity, we will be releasing the final and detailed figures for the 2021 Population and Housing Census. In this release we will share with you the final numbers as we saw in terms of the data we collected and the information we received from our post-enumeration survey.
“With the release that we will do next week on the 22nd, we will send the analysis to the regional level. In the release on November 18, we will complete the analysis not only at the regional level but also at the district level. And the additional dimension in the general report is that we are going to give information on the ten other modules that we have in the population and housing census of 2021. These are the three products that we are going to release for the year 2021. ”
If the interim results are released this week, it will be the first time that the PHC results will be released within three months of the end of the fiscal year.
In the coming weeks, the ESG will engage the MMCE and other stakeholders to disseminate the results of the PHC 2021.
