The ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) MPs vowed to take their rightful place in Parliament on Friday, during the first sitting of the 8th legislature.

The deputies of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), on the night of Wednesday, January 6, 2021, before the reconstitution of Parliament, occupied the majority side of the House.

They took the seats in reverse, insisting that they won the majority of parliamentary seats at the polls.

The Election Commission declared 137 seats each for the NDC and the New Patriotic Party (NPP), but the NPP enjoys the support of the only independent MP.

But speaking on the “Ekosi sen” show on Asempa FM, watched by Kasapafmonline.com, the NPP caucus chief whip in Parliament, the Hon. Annor Dompreh has said that nothing will prevent NPP MPs from taking seats designated for the majority.

He warned that the NPP caucus would not hesitate to be confronted if the NDC caucus tried to find its way.

“If the NDC uses force to occupy the same place, we will also apply force. We have apologized to the Ghanaians, we don’t want this to repeat itself, but the minority should also behave and know that they are not male than those of us in the majority.

The deputy for Nsawam-Adoagyiri added: “This act of despair which some have decided that, whether they are in the minority or not, cannot be tolerated. So on Friday no one calls for violent exchanges, but we will claim our rightful place by all legitimate means. “
