Weight loss: a woman loses five pounds with this diet – NHS verdict on meals

Weight loss can be achieved in many ways, including exercising and adopting a healthy and balanced diet. Others may seek help from a diet plan to stay motivated throughout their weight loss journey. Having already struggled to find a balance between following a strict diet and indulging in anything she liked, Sharon Holloway, 52, decided that she wanted to lose weight. She arrived after working long hours as a teacher, before returning home and taking care of her two children.

"When I came home, the work did not stop because I had two children to watch," she said.

"I started eating for convenience and speed, and the weight went up."

Sharon has remembered one case where she had remembered that she had felt particularly cheerful – at an annual party during the 2017 holiday season.

The teacher said, "My husband and I attend an annual dinner and dance with our friends every year, dress, book a hotel and normally dance all night, but this year has been different.

"One of our women, one of our friends, did not stop commenting on the size of my chest. I was aware of the fact that it was important, but having someone constantly comment on it, then talking to other people about it. He really pissed off.

"I found myself sitting at the table chatting with people, without dancing or leaving my hair

would usually do it. "

A few weeks later, Sharon went to a spa for a day with her sister.

It's here that his brother, a Lighter Life advisor, sensitively suggested he give a hand to the scheme.

At the time, Sharon weighed 14 pounds and wore a woman's dress of size 16 or 18.

"Before LighterLife, I was really a kind of person totally or nothing, I was either

very strict, or go crazy, eat and drink whatever I wanted when I wanted it, "she said.

"This type of mindset is what has brought me to a yo-yo diet in the past."

After joining LighterLife's global plan, Sharon was able to gain individual support from her counselor and attend group sessions.

"The sessions use cognitive behavioral therapies (CBTs) to help you understand where you are wrong and help undo all the bad habits you have created," she said. "It has been very helpful in changing my state of mind."

Sharon has lost five pounds and five pounds and currently maintains her nine-pound weight and seven pounds with LighterLife.

So, what did Sharon eat in the LigtherLife diet?

In the overall plan, the 52-year-old has abandoned conventional food options instead of eating four foodpacks.

LighterLife is a very low calorie diet (VLCD) and saw Sharon eating around 600 calories a day.

What did the NHS say about the Lighter Life diet?

The British Dietetic Association (BDA) has carried out a study on diets, published on the NHS website.

The BDA states that the LigtherLife Total plan is designed for people with a BMI of 30 or more.

"Meal plans can lead to very rapid weight loss, and you should consult your doctor before you begin," says the report.

The BDA points out that counseling can help a person understand their relationship with food, in order to make lasting changes, and that rapid weight loss can sometimes be motivating.

That said, it also highlights the initial side effects that slimming products may have and that the strict diet of meal replacements may give the impression of being "socially insulating".

The BDA states, "A VLCD that involves consuming 1,000 calories or less should not be followed for more than 12 consecutive weeks.

"If you eat less than 600 calories a day, you should have medical supervision."

The teacher, who has since abandoned four sizes of clothing, now takes the time twice a week to take a physical training clbad.
