  • FIFA.com breaks down key matches

With 14 teams already qualified for the CAF Africa Cup of Nations 2019, there remain ten places to win at the big event in Egypt, which replaced Cameroon as a host country. Having already had their place in the final, the Indomitable Lions still have a lot to do in the last qualifying round, which will take place from March 22nd to 24th.

FIFA.com The attack this weekend is promising. Some less important hopes have high expectations of a surprise appearance at the African football tournament and big names sweat in their place.

Already qualified
Madagascar, Tunisia, Egypt, Senegal, Morocco, Mali, Nigeria, Uganda, Guinea, Algeria, Mauritania, Ivory Coast, Ghana and Kenya

The key games

  • Cameroon, Comoros
  • Burundi, Gabon
  • Benin-Togo
  • Libya-South Africa
  • Zimbabwe-Congo
  • Congo DR-Liberia
  • Botswana-Angola
  • Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique
  • Zambia-Namibia
  • Tanzania-Uganda
  • Lesotho-Cape Verde

Challenges

group A
Senegal and Madagascar have already claimed their tickets for Egypt and the only problem that remains to be solved is who is leading the group. Three points ahead and with a goal difference of +8 over Madagascar, the Teranga Lions are in pole position. Already out of the race, Sudan and Equatorial Guinea meet to not finish last.

Group B
The hopes lost, Malawi faces Morocco who has ensured its place in the final and attaches more importance to the next friendly match against Argentina in a few days. Coach Hervé Renard relies on Nordin Amrabat, Sofiane Boufal, Youssef En-Nesyri, Medhi Benatia, Achraf Hakimi, Romain Saiss and Manuel Da Costa for the trip to Malawi, while Amine Harit and Hakim Ziyech are injured . For their part, Cameroon needs a point in their home match with Comoros. The Coelacantes nearly beat Clarence Seedorf's men at the first meeting between the two camps in Moroni, where the indomitable Lions needed a late strike from Stephane Bahoken to score a goal. Bahoken will miss the return after an injury.

Group C
While Mali, which has qualified, and South Sudan, who have been eliminated, have little to play, Burundi and Gabon will not lack motivation when they meet in Bujumbura. Only 90 minutes from a first participation in the Africa Cup of Nations, the Swallows only need one point, while the Gabonese, who welcome the return of the # 39, star striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, have no choice but to win.

Group D
Algeria has already finished and will welcome a Gambian team in the hope of a miracle: win three goals in Blida, Benin and Togo. Benin is best placed to join the Algerians in Egypt, thanks to its two-point advantage over the Sparrowhawks, who must win when the two sides meet in Cotonou.

Group E
While the match between Nigeria, already qualified, and Seychelles, already eliminated, has not been put to the test, South Africa and Libya have everything to gain. Bafana Bafana have the advantage, only requiring a draw to progress.

Group F
Ghana welcome Kenya, leader of the group, in a match that will decide who will head the section. Kenyans are one point ahead of the game. Ethiopia and Sierra Leone hope to avoid the wooden spoon in the other match of the weekend.

Group G
The only group in which all four sides can still qualify. Zimbabwe, which opened the way with eight points, entertains Congo, last with five points. The Red Devils must win in Harare and hope that their neighbors, the DR Congo, will not succeed the same way at home, in Liberia.

Team Points Goal difference
Zimbabwe 8 + 3
Liberia 7 – 3
Congo DR 6 +1
Congo 5 – 1

Group h
Guinea and Ivory Coast have secured their place in the final and will remain in this order if the Sily National to win in the Central African Republic. If they do not, elephants will overtake them when they beat Rwanda at home.

Group I
After having celebrated for the first time its qualification for the Africa Cup of Nations, Mauritania can now measure its progress thanks to a trip to Burkina Faso, which must win if it wants to have a chance to join in Egypt. The hopes of the stallions will however be wiped out if Angola accumulates the maximum points in Botswana, which is already absent.

Group J
Tunisia and Egypt will participate in the final, the Egyptians being the hosts of the tournament. The two men will compete for first place in the group, the Eagles of Carthage welcoming Swaziland and the Pharaohs going to Niger.

Group K
The big surprise here is that Zambia, champion of Africa in 2012, is the only team in the running. Zambians still have a role to play in the selection of candidates. They welcome Namibia, who will secure a place in Egypt if they win. Any other result will leave them waiting for the outcome of Guinea-Bissau's home meeting with Mozambique.

Team Points Goal difference
Guinea Bissau 8 +1
Namibia 8 +1
mozambique 7 0
Zambia 4 – 2

Group l
The group winners, Uganda, are on a pressure-free trip to Tanzania, where the hosts have to go and hope that Lesotho will not do the same at home against the Cape Verde Islands, which have still a chance to stay despite the background.
