Wesley Girls High School in Cape Coast has qualified for the semifinal of the 2019 Science and Mathematics National Quiz after eliminating Prempeh and Achimota Colleges in the quarterfinals.

On the eve of the contest, Wey Gey Hey, as the popular appellation of the Cape Coast School, was perceived as an underdog.

This is largely due to the fact that the girls' school has never won the contest. Prempeh, who won the first edition in 1994, has won the last trophy four times in 2017. Achimota won twice in 1998 and 2004.

And they did not start the day very well because they were late on Achimota and Prempeh by seven and five points at the end of the first round.

But the girls recovered and finished the second round, leading the two opponents to three points.

Competition management alternated between Gey Hey and Achimota for the remaining round until the girls stung him in the fifth round.

In the end, the Wesley Girls earned 57 points, compared with 49 for Achimota School and 27 for Prempeh College, causing fans to be jubilant.
