West African civil society groups call for an inclusive dialogue and process for the restoration of democratic governance in Guinea following the dissolution of the country’s constitution by its special forces.

Although some international communities have called for the reinstatement of President Alpha Condé and threatened with sanctions, all this has fallen on deaf ears.
In a joint press release to offer solidarity to the Guinean people, several civil society groups have united their voices to instruct ECOWAS to take a strong stand against leaders who abuse their mandate to manipulate constitutions or effect constitutional changes. to remove or change the presidential term limits in order to cling to power.
“While immediate attention is rightly focused on the current crisis, we believe it is equally important that leaders and stakeholders in the region are reminded of and recognize the democratic violations and the crisis of legitimacy that has engendered them. resulted in Guinea which have led to the current unfortunate political crisis, ”part of the CSO statement said.
