As is natural at EastEnders, Sean Slater and Tanya Branning have a complicated past together.
Earlier this week on the soap opera, Sean (Rob Kazinsky) confided to his mother a terrible secret that he has been wearing for years – it is he who is responsible for the death of his father.
Indeed, the only other person Sean ever said was Tanya Branning (Jo Joyner).
So what happened between Sean and Tanya to trust her so much?
What happened in the past with Sean Slater and Tanya Branning?
Sean and Tanya have a romantic story that dates back to a very long time in the day – almost from the beginning of Sean's first stay at Walford from 2006 to 2009.
After having decided to stay with her little sister Stacey (Lacey Turner), Tanya caught Sean's eye and chased her.
However, after digging into the gold, Sean got wind of family wealth Ruby Allen (Louise Lytton), he began to frequent for his money, while enjoying multiple appointments with other women.
After Sean broke away from Ruby, his playboy habits continued to cause him trouble, to say the least.
And that did not stop when, in 2008, he finally met Tayna.
Sean and Tanya did not make a difference, they plotted to bury Tanya's exiled and deceiving husband, Max Branning (Jake Wood).
They nearly did it too, but Tanya had a last minute change of heart and extorted Max out of guilt.
She also ended the discussions with Sean, telling her that she had only used him to avenge Max, even though Sean wanted him, Tanya, and her children to be a family.
Sean was so keen on Tanya that while they were together, he revealed to her his darkest secret: to be responsible for the death of his father.
Years earlier, when he was a teenager, Sean had beaten his father in a fight and, as a result, his father had a cerebral hemorrhage the next day and unfortunately died.
Tanya was the only person to know this terrible secret, until now.
After returning to Walford to try to repair the wrongs he has caused over the years, Sean confessed what had happened so many years ago to his mother Jean (Gillian Wright).
However, he also intends to commit suicide after being excused for his wrongdoing and with his mother in great danger: a diagnosis of cancer and now a nasty cut that does not stop bleeding as a result of the chemotherapy that thins him – Sean could very well lose his mother too, which could push Sean, psychologically vulnerable, to the edge of the abyss …
