Mauricio Pochettino fears that Harry Kane is missing for the rest of the season after suffering an ankle injury.

The Tottenham striker stopped with the help of medical staff in the Spurs' 1-0 win over Manchester City in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

Kane left the stadium with crutches and a protective boot after securing himself in the second half, before Son Heung-min scored the only goal of the first-leg quarter-final first leg.

Pochettino admits that the club is not optimistic about the return of the English hitman before the end of the season.

Kane was away seven weeks earlier this year after being injured at the same ankle.

Kane is gone

And Pochettino said: "We must hope that this is not a big problem, but it is so painful. It does not look good. We will check in the next few days, but it may have damaged the ligaments. "

When asked if Kane could miss the rest of the campaign, he added, "Yes, we are very sad, very disappointed and it will be difficult for the rest of the season."

The incident occurred after Kane and his teammate of the Three Lions, Fabian Delph, quarreled.

Delph was not happy with Kane's challenge

Kane tried to block the pbad from Delphi to goalkeeper Ederson, but his balance seemed to twist his ankle – on which fell Delph.

The City midfielder, the left opponent, was not happy with Kane's attempt, reacting with some anger.

Pochettino and Delph have words

This eventually led to words with Pochettino, who revealed: "He was so aggressive with Harry after the action, I tried to make him understand that it was not an intention to get hurt, it was just a difficult action.

"[And] he walked on his ankle. I told him that he was lucky because checking on VAR might be technically a red card.

"Both were fighting for the ball, the intention was not to be damaged. [There’s] no problem between us. "

The Spurs take a 1-0 lead over the Etihad when both men resume the battle in the second leg next week.
