A rare interview Prophet TB Joshua gave to Nigerian media days before his death on June 5e2021 has surfaced online.

He explained that the work of God was “not a commercial enterprise” and that “the question of the family should not enter the question of the church”.
Asked about his immediate family’s role in The SCOAN, the late cleric explained, “I wish my wife was like me, but I can’t make her who I am; it is God. It is not possible for me to anoint him; God is the one who anoints people. It is not a biological problem; it is the heritage of the saints, it is a part of the saints. Therefore, I should not use anything in my biological life to stop my spiritual life.
He further described The SCOAN as “an apostolic ministry” that required the anointing of God to minister, not theological training or biological connection.
“I am originally from Arigidi-Akoko but as for my divine nature, I participate in the inheritance of the saints, so it is so difficult for me,” Joshua explained. “It is an apostolic ministry. It’s not a ministry where you read the Bible, go to theological school, and start preaching. No! It is purely divine. So, it’s so hard for me to flaunt my wife. She must be ready for God. As long as you are ready for God, God will show it.
When the reporter asked in clear terms who would take over his ministry, Joshua responded by calling on him to observe recent activity on Emmanuel TV, the popular TV channel owned by The SCOAN.
“You don’t watch Emmanuel TV? It has been a year now or six months since I last preached and the church is still going on. There are five prophets and prophetesses; they work. They have already succeeded me. There is an American, a British, a French and a Nigerian.
When asked if he was concerned that the family would interfere in the affairs of the church in matters of succession, Joshua replied, “This is where God comes in; it is not a commercial enterprise. If it’s God, then it’s God and then it’s true. The question of the family shouldn’t be part of the question of the church – that’s all; it is undeserved grace.
Joshua also explained why he was rarely seen in public office but spent the majority of his time at “Prayer Mountain,” a reclaimed swamp that became a natural resort where his ministry began in Lagos.
“This swamp is the rejected stone. God spoke to me and brought me here; I followed God’s vision and mission. When I’m out of God’s mission, I’m done… I must have a corresponding grace or power, because the Holy Spirit has to suggest what to do before I do them. Otherwise, I will not be able to have the result of God, ”he said.
He continued, “That’s why you don’t see me there – at weddings, baptismal ceremonies and coming to your office to give an interview. The synagogue here in Ikotun is the only church; there is no other branch all over the world but it touches all over the world… The important thing is that we should focus on building the people and not the church.
TB Joshua was finally laid to rest last week on Friday July 9e 2021 at The SCOAN premises after a series of services celebrating his life and legacy.
