What the transfer of Denis Suarez to Arsenal means for the future of Ivan Perisic

After all hope of transfer from Arsenal, Denis Suarez seems ready to join the Gunners for a loan agreement – but what does this mean for Ivan Perisic?

Both players have been linked to the club in recent days while Unai Emery is looking to strengthen his team before closing the transfer window.

Suarez had previously worked with the Spanish in Seville, while Perisic made a transfer request on Sunday amid rumors that Arsenal was interested in the 29-year-old.

At Monday's press conference, Emery confirmed that the club would sign between zero and two players in January.

He also recently confirmed that the center back and the winger were the two positions he wanted to strengthen.

The pbadage of Ivan Perisic to Arsenal is unlikely if Denis Suarez finishes his change

"The idea is first to find quality and this quality can help us," he said. "We need, if he can come here, a winger for the right or left side or some players also in the center of the field."

With Suarez able to play center and as a winger, it seems like a box is ticked.

It also means that Arsenal can only sign another player this month, if Emery is true to his word.

Denis Suarez looks ready to complete his transfer to Arsenal

And as the Gunners are still interested in a loan deal for multi-talented Christopher Nkunku of Paris Saint Germain, Perisic's chances of joining Arsenal are rather slim.

Although a move is by no means excluded, the odds are against the closure by Croatia sealing a pbadage north of the Londoners. Inter Milan will only listen to permanent transfer offers while Arsenal will only be able to lend players.

If Suarez joins the gunners, it is unlikely that Perisic will be too.
