What Thomas Partey said about his participation in the Premier League between Arsenal and Man City

Recent Spanish reports suggest that Arsenal and Manchester City would be interested in Thomas Partey's signing of Atletico Madrid.

The midfielder has been a crucial cog on Diego Simeone's side for the last two seasons, earning minutes on all competitions in search of trophies.

That said, ESPN thinks the Ghanaian international is excited by the interest of Unai Emery and Pep Guardiola and keeps his options open after being knocked out of the Champions League by Juventus – Partey has been suspended for the return match – while Atleti has nine points behind Barcelona in La Liga.

This is not the first time that the interest of the midfielder for a move to the Premier League has been touted. Last summer, the 25-year-old said he would like to play in the competition in the future.

He said at that time: "At the moment, I am happy in my club, but in football, you never know when and where you will be in the day or the following year.

"The Premier League is a good league, it's very competitive and has some of the best players in the world, hopefully someday, I'd like to play it."

The star of the 17 selections said that he was happy that his agents handle any interest.

"My agents are in the loop, I will leave everything to them," he added. "For me, I am happy to play football and I will continue to play where I am now until something is taken into consideration."

AS suggests that Diego Simeone considers Partey as crucial for his project next season. He recently raised the release clause to 50 million euros and extended his contract until 2023, so that the defensive midfielder is not cheap.
