Sammy Gyamfi, NDC spokesman, said: “Going to court is an option, but whether or not we are going to exercise that option is up to our hearts.”

He responded Thursday at NDC headquarters to critics who kept saying “go to court” while mocking the NDC about the election results.

Sammy Gyamfi said those “ self-proclaimed ” NDC detractors who are still lagging behind that the party should go to court should allow the NDC to complete their audit, collect their evidence and decide whether or not to proceed with the court of Justice.

“After the 2012 election, how long did it take for the nuclear power plant to go to court. They submitted their election petition file on December 27 […] at the time they filed their petition we only had 26,000 polling stations, today we have over 38,000 polling stations […] and we have people trying to push us around to go to court, ”he observed.

“The fact that we have the right to go to court [and] to challenge the results vitiate our freedom of expression? Does it vitiate our expression to protest against this great injustice? Sammy Gyamfi questioned.

He said the same law that allows the NDC to go to court to challenge the results also gives them “the right to speak out”.

“No one can tell us not to speak; the only right you are entitled to is to go to court, but you cannot even explain your case so that wise spirits can accompany you, ”he said. go to court'”.

John Dramani Mahama, who led the NDC in the 2020 elections, at a press conference after the EC declared President Akufo-Addo the winner of the presidential race, described the elections as ‘flawed and fictitious’ .

Mahama claimed that data available to his party in Ghana’s 16 regions showed he won the 2020 presidential election insisting that any further EC statements were evidence of manipulation of the numbers.

He therefore rejected the result of the presidential election.

Many have called on party leaders to present their evidence to a competent court for a decision to be made instead of the current media discourse and street protests.
