MacKenzie Bezos will retain 4% stake in Amazon

When the richest man in the world and his wife decided to divorce, the numbers would still be high.

And so it was this week, when Amazon's founder, Jeff Bezos, and his wife MacKenzie agreed on the terms of their split.

MacKenzie Bezos will retain 4% of the online retail giant. Its participation alone represents $ 35.6 billion (£ 27 billion), making it the third richest woman in the world (and the twenty-fourth richest person in the world).

Who is she?

The French heiress of L'Oréal's cosmetic fortune who, along with his family, owns 33% of the company.

The 65-year-old woman inherited her fortune from her mother Liliane Bettencourt, who died in September 2017 at the age of 94. The two women were separated and had a long conflict in 2007.

Bettencourt-Meyers filed a lawsuit to raise fears that her mother would be exploited by family members as her health deteriorated. But they reconciled in the years leading up to his mother's death.
