The British finale Got Talent caused one of the biggest surprises in the show's history on Sunday night when the mysterious wizard X's identity was revealed.
The judges and Ant and Dec were stunned when – after again seducing the committee and the audience with a cascade of readings – X was unmasked as a 2018 Got Talent semi-finalist , Marc Spelmann.
After the shock, Marc / X finished second in the final behind champion Colin Thackery.
But who exactly is it – and what happened last time on Got Talent in Britain?
Here's what you need to know …
Who is Marc Spelmann and what did he do on Got Talent in Britain in 2018?
Marc is a magician from North London who won Golden Buzzer from Ant and Dec in his first appearance in the series in 2018.
Then he seduced the duo – as well as the judges and the public – with a trick involving his wife Tessa, then his two-year-old daughter Isabella. The judges had to complete a series of tasks and correctly predict the outcome, with the help of Isabella.
He explained at the time that the real magic had started for him the day of his birth, just before Christmas 2015 – as it had been conceived after five years of IVF and had survived despite the diagnosis of cancer and chemotherapy of which Tessa was pregnant
After winning a Golden Buzzer, Marc is directly qualified for the semifinals live in 2018 – but narrowly missed a place in the final.
This time, he finished third in his series in front of singer Gruffyd Wyn Roberts after the judges were unable to choose between the two acts and sent him back to the public vote.
How did X arrive at the British Got Talent Final?
X's first audition was to prove the psychic connection between Ant and Dec, to make a trick that allowed them to feel touched at the same time, then to draw exactly the same image with their eyes closed.
X propelled spirit reading to the next level in Friday's semifinal – and was voted winner of this event until the final.
It is then, following another tour featuring Ant and Dec, and the entire audience focused on the same word of a given selection, that the true identity of X is revealed and that the link between this illusion and performance awarded by Golden Buzzer from 2018 is: explained.
"It was always a question of hope and never give up," said Marc. "It's an honor to share X with you … I'm X."
"I never thought in a million years that … since the minute you came on this show, it's amazing, and you know what I admire for you – so many people come on this show, They give up. You really worked that and you did something incredible. "
Alesha "I am absolutely stunned – what an incredible moment. That's really what surprises me the most in this show. "
Why did Marc return to the British Got Talent?
He explained in the show: "Things are happening in life, then you plan and last year, I really wanted to go to the finals because I had hidden in this video something that was the word hope.
"And then, I really wanted to come back and do it, but no story," he went on, "because last year it was such a story and I was able to share my wife and my daughter with the world, but I wanted to come back anonymous. & # 39;
The British Got Talent will be back on the screens in 2020.
