Who Man Utd's boss, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, should be named captain after comments by Paul Pogba | Football | sport

Solskjaer, the boss of Manchester United, was left shaken by Pogba after comments from the player's controversial agent, Mino Raiola.

Raiola said Friday that his client wanted to leave Old Trafford and that he was actively working to find a way to get the winner out of the club's World Cup.

"Everyone in the club, from the manager to the owner, knows Paul's wishes," said Raiola.

"Everyone knows Paul's willingness to go forward. We are doing it. Everyone knows what Paul's feelings are.

And the Times says Solskjaer should not give Pogba the captain's job this season.

Instead, the role will likely go to Ashley Young – although the 33-year-old is expected to spend most of his term on the bench.

United has landed Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Crystal Palace, the former Eagles defender being likely to end up in the right wing.

The report indicates that Solskjaer had considered making Pogba his vice-captain.

At 46, Chris Smalling and David De Gea have also been shortlisted for the role, but it remains to be seen if he changes his mind.

Pogba, in his day, is a leader.

But the star of United has struggled to get consistency throughout his career at the club and now a separation of means seems to be possible.

In another United news, Solskjaer revealed Friday that he was in talks with the team's hierarchy about transfers.

"We are quite calm," he said.

"We have been good on the market so far and are still working on a deal or two.

"I have been in contact with Joel (Glazer), Ed (Woodward) + recruiting service during the summer.

"There will probably be more work to do but happy with what we have done so far."

Pogba is wanted by Real Madrid and Juventus.

But he also wants a salary of £ 500,000 a week. That the two European giants agree to respect the asking price is something that time will tell.
