BBC Sport reporter David Ornstein revealed why Arsenal's decision on winger Ivan Perisic collapsed on the day of the deadline.

It was reported yesterday that Inter was not interested in applying for a loan for Croatian. The Gunners turned to Yannick Carrasco.

However, Carrasco's agent said yesterday that any deal before the transfer deadline would be "difficult" with the lack of time left to make a deal.

And now, it seems that Arsenal may have tried to persuade Inter to reconsider a loan offer for Perisic with an option to buy the player in summer.

Ornstein claims, however, that the Italian giants were not satisfied with the structure of the transaction.

"Perisic to Arsenal off," wrote David Ornstein of the BBC on Twitter earlier in the day. "Inter ended all the discussions between players yesterday.

"Attempts Arsenal to structure the loan + option (without penalty if the option is not taken) without interest".

Perisic at Arsenal off – #Enter ended all the discussions between players yesterday, #AFC tries to structure the loan + option (without penalty if the option is not taken) without interest. Nkunku's efforts are underway but now very unlikely #PSG. Announcement of Suarez soon. Smith Rowe #RBLeipzig ready, no option to buy
