National Democratic Congress (NDC) member Sheshe Semabia questioned Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia’s stoning silence over his promise to stop the dollar and behave like “everything is fine”.
He said Dr Bawumia’s inability to stop the dollar he had promised had caused untold hardship for Ghanaians.
In an interview with Modern Ghana NewsMr. Semabia, executive member of the Anyaa Sowutuom branch of the party, said: “I thank God that Dr. Bawumia and the NPP have realized that governance is not just about chewing and pouring, but real work. .
During the 2016 election campaign, the vice president reportedly said he would stop the dollar, lock it in cells and hand over the keys to the Inspector General of Police during the vote.
“We all remember how he bragged back then, why doesn’t he speak now. He suddenly shifted his focus to other things instead of stopping the dollar for Ghanaians again.
“When we say it’s only good in economy to chew and pour, people won’t understand, but that’s exactly what it’s good for,” he said.
Mr. Semabia who is a financial expert questions the achievements of Dr. Bawumia regarding the performance of cedis.
He noted that the local currency continues to perform poorly against the major currency like the USD dollar hitting a record high of 6.02 GHC per dollar.
“There is even a projection that it will go up to 6.34 before the end of the year on 12/31/2021,” he hinted.
According to him, everything suggests that the vice-president needs help to keep his noble promises on the economy.
“Now Dr Bawumia needs help but can’t ask anyone because he has introduced himself as a demigod of economics, but he has now been exposed to being a chew-and-pour economist. who knows practically nothing. “
