Some unemployed young people in Busunu, in the Savannah region of Ghana, reject the gift of rice from deputy dema in protest against unemployment.

Inside a video that has gone viral, the young men return bags of rice that they send to the community as a gift to the sender.

“We need jobs, we need jobs” are some of the comments they make as they put the rice back in the truck.

Local media report that Zaaradio says young people miss MP Samuel Abu Jinapor who promises them jobs during the elections.

However, seven months after the election, they are still unemployed.

For the sake of that they reject rice, we take a video to send a message, saying these are jobs that don’t have to be rice or giveaways.

Local reports say angry youths destroy most of the rice and return to lawmakers who come to deliver the items.

Who is Samuel Abu Jinapor?

Samuel Abu Jinapor is a lawyer by profession.

He entered parliament for the first time after the 2020 elections by defeating NDC Adam Mutawakilu.

Before becoming a Member of Parliament, he was Deputy Chief of Staff to Prez Akufo-Addo during his first term from 2017 to 2020.

He currently serves as Minister of Lands and Natural Resources during the second term of the Prez Akufo-Addo government.

One of his main responsibilities as Minister is to say that he is leading the fight against illegal mining, a major problem of the current government, namely to solve the problem of pollution of water bodies.
