Keta MP, Richard Quashigah, MP, questions the decision of President Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo to appoint a general manager for Keta Port, while the port is not ready for use.

In a letter dated March 19, 2019, the Minister of Transport, Kwaku Ofori Asiama, announced the appointment of the private lawyer Dr. Alexander Y. Adusei Jr to the post of director of the port of Keta.

In that letter, Mr. Asiama asked the President of the Ghana Ports and Harbors Authority to "take the necessary steps to give effect" to the appointment.

It will be remembered that in April 2018, the government had signed an agreement with Diamond Cement Ghana Limited to begin construction of a port at Keta.

In January of this year, the Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture, Mrs. Elizabeth Afoley Quaye, announced that President Akufo-Addo had signed an executive instrument allowing the beginning of work on the project of the port.

L & # 39; Hon. Quashigah's reaction to the news of Dr Adusei's appointment as Keta Port's director questioned the president's action, pointing out that the port did not exist.

"Is there already a port in Keta?" He asks. "As far as I know, there was a statement of intent and nothing more. So, why appoint a general manager for a nonexistent port?
