Gavin and Stacey's Christmas special could be one of the highlights of the 2019 celebration viewing calendar.
Although James Corden, Mat Horne, and Ruth Jones all attended the meeting, a notable name is missing from the list of actors, Sheridan Smith.
Unfortunately, the actress confirmed that she would not come back for this exceptional episode, but why not see her again?
Here is what we know.
Why is Sheridan Smith not featured in Gavin and Stacey's Christmas Special?
No real reason was given for Smith's absence, but she confirmed that she was not there. According to what she said, it seems that her character just does not appear in the episode.
Speaking during the Zoe Ball broadcast on Radio 2, and when asked if she was going to participate in the show, the actress said: "I wish . No, I will not be there. I do not think so, anyway.
She added, "Like everyone else, I can not wait to watch the Christmas special. I'm so proud to have been part of something so special. "
Who did Sheridan Smith play in Gavin and Stacey?
The actress played Rudi, the sister of James Corden's character, Smithy, who had some memorable moments on screen, including this scene where she rapped at the All American Boy d'Estelle:
Sheridan had already been to James about Gavin and Stacey's first broadcast, but they split in 2009.
Since the show, she has won numerous awards for her work in theater and television, including a Bafta Award in 2013 for her role in Ms. Biggs and a national television award for her portrayal of Cilla Black in the Cilla miniseries.
More recently, she has been seen in the television series Clean Up, as well as in the TV movie Care.
When will the special from Gavin and Stacey be on?
James Corden revealed that we could expect to see him on Christmas Day, as he announced the news to fans last month by sharing a photo of the screenplay.
"Ruth Jones and I have been keeping this secret for some time now … We are excited to share it with you – see you on Christmas Day.
The couple added in a statement: "Over the last ten years, we've talked a lot about Gavin and Stacey – where they could be today and what their life would look like. And so secretly, we took the plunge and wrote this special one hour.
"We loved revisiting Barry and Esbad and bringing the characters together was a joy."
"We are very pleased to have the chance to once again work with our team and our fabulous actors and to give the fans of the show a festive treat this Christmas Thanks to the BBC for helping to make this possible",
Members of the cast, including Joanna Page, Rob Brydon and Larry Lamb, also confirmed their involvement in the special.
