Winners and losers of Liverpool's loss to Borussia Dortmund

[ad_1]

Liverpool suffered its first defeat in pre-season when Jurgen Klopp's former club, Borussia Dortmund, imposed itself on a stifling night in Indiana.

Paco Alcacer scored just three minutes after taking advantage of a defense in the Liverpool area, but Harry Wilson equalized before the break.

However, Liverpool was again defeated early in the second period, with Thomas Delaney scoring two goals in the space of five minutes and Jacob Bruun Larsen giving the German team a two – goal lead.

Rhian Brewster pulled one point off the penalty spot after Ben Woodburn's foul, but there was no need for a dramatic leveler.

Here we examine the best and the worst exposed at Notre Dame Stadium …

WINNERS

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain

He looked brisk and ready for the new season while he was almost in top form after more than a year of serious knee injury. Will bring something different to Liverpool midfielder this season.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain continues to improve

Simon Mignolet

He knows he's only joining Alisson, but while the Brazilian is on the beach after winning the Copa America, Mignolet does not hurt his reputation here. He made two very good saves, including one last effort to keep Immanuel Pherai.

Harry Wilson

Perfectly achieved his goal while he kept his cool at a roasting party in Indiana. Was busy all the time he was presenting too. If it remains, it may be an badet of the bench but should leave on loan or perhaps even a permanent move.

Harry Wilson pbades the ball home

losers

Nathaniel Clyne

It's his mistake that gave Borussia Dortmund a first game and he looked rusty for the entire time he played. This is not a performance that will convince Jurgen Klopp that he has a future at Anfield.

Jadon Sancho

A target for Manchester United but not on this evidence. Honest to criticize in pre-season but he looked away and Ybader Larouci, a graduate of the Liverpool Academy, tut. Will probably find its marks in pre-season and find its best level.

Jadon Sancho was not at his best

Julian Brandt

No doubt a beautiful Dortmund signature, but which has left the ball too far. Perhaps he was still adapting to Dortmund's style of play and the conditions certainly did not help him. Adventurous player who will come well.
