Woman arrested for allegedly murdering spouse for allegedly cheating

The Agona Swedru District Police Command arrested one Joyce Okyere for hitting her husband, Mr. Francis Efrim with a wood, resulting in his death.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Irene Oppong Serwaah, public relations officer for the Central Regional Police, confirmed this to the Ghanaian News Agency (GNA) in Cape Coast.

Giving an account of the incident, she said at around 7:40 a.m. on Tuesday, September 21, police received a report that a woman hit her husband with a wood and went to hospital government office of Agona Swedru where Mr. Efrim had been taken for treatment.

She said police found Mr. Efrim, who was pronounced dead on arrival by a doctor, on a stretcher.

DSP Oppong said a deep cut was found on his forehead when the body of the deceased was carefully examined.

The body was taken to the mortuary at the same hospital for storage and autopsy, while the suspect, also known as Esi Atta, was in custody to assist with investigations, DSP Oppong added.
