A woman who had a cyst on her ovary was informed that she had to decide if she wanted her three-month-old boyfriend to be the father of her children.

Laura Miles of Ross on Wye contracted a sepsis and cyst on her ovary, forcing surgeons to remove one of her ovaries and all her fallopian tubes, reports Wales Online.

The doctors told her that if she wanted children, she had to decide to use a sperm donor – or her three-month-old boyfriend.

If she decided to use her boyfriend Matthew Drew and they broke up, the embryos would have to be destroyed, which would put an end to her chances of having biological children.

But choosing a sperm donor and staying with Matthew could create discomfort between the couple.

Laura said: "I had contracted a sepsis, I had an infection and a cyst that I did not know that I had and I went abroad, but on my return I was hospitalized for a month.

"By the time they found it, they had to remove one of my ovaries and all my tubes.

"I was about to receive treatment when the surgeon said," Have you thought about babies? "

"We had not been together so long, but he said that if we do not act now, I will be sterile in a very short time."

"We did not even discuss having children, we knew we did not want to say that we had never wanted children, but we did not even live together."

"We had only been together for three months, and it was very embarrbading.

"We went home and everything was very real.I told him, what do you think of a sperm donor and he said that he would not like that.

"I said that this could be my only chance of having children and I did not want him to kidnap me."

The couple had only known each other for three months and at that time, he did not even live together, but was forced to make one of the biggest decisions for a couple.

She added, "They asked us if we wanted to use a sperm donor or use Matthew's sperm.

"But if we used Matthew's sperm and we parted, they could not use the embryo.

"But if we used a sperm donor and we stayed together, I should have somebody else's children.

"We decided not to give sperm.

"We did not plan to go on fertility treatment, but we were lucky because my condition was quite bad so we went to the clinic within two weeks. started the treatment. "

Laura and Matthew were referred to the Wales Fertility Institute for two treatment sessions, which consisted of a series of injections and medications, going every two days to the Cardiff clinic. and in a sample of eggs.

Once the grueling process ended, they ended up with four embryos, which they will be able to use later when they want to have children.

But despite the difficulties, Laura does not regret her decision.

"It's probably one of the most stressful experiences I've ever had in my life, but I could not do it.

"I'm not really sure of the plan, we did not have the treatment, we desperately wanted to have a baby, we had it because that chance was lost.
