Wontumi’s show of wealth angered voters – Ofosu Boakye

The gratuitous demonstration of wealth by the Ashanti regional president of the New Patriotic Party, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, aka President Wontumi, is at every opportunity to blame for the party’s woes in the polls that have just ended.

Special aide to Suame Constituency MP (MP) Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu Maxwell Ofosu Boakye berated Wontumi for gaining notoriety for such rude conduct and said many floating voters were unhappy with him.

According to Maxwell Ofosu Boakye, President Wontumi flaunting his wealth in public even angered some NPP members and floating voters who refused to participate in the December 7 general election.

In a video posted on social media and seen by MyNewsGh.com, the regional president of the nuclear power plant was seen posting the several gold bars he owns on Wontumi TV.

Speaking on the Kumasi-based Angel Fm morning show ‘Angel In The Morning’ hosted by Kwame Tanko (KT), Maxwell Ofosu Boakye attributed the poor performance of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), especially in the region Ashanti in the general elections of December 7, in the attitude of President Wontumi and some regional executives.

“KT it’s time to speak the truth to power and correct our mistakes. The Ashanti region is the bastion of the nuclear power plant, and given the good policies implemented by President Akufo-Addo’s government, the party is expected to win overwhelmingly in the region. Although we won the election, we did not expect this percentage. People even decided not to go and vote because of the attitude of some regional leaders, ”Maxwell said.

“People have the impression that politicians are corrupt and steal taxpayer money, so if you (President Wontumi) show your wealth in public, those who fought and fought for the party but are still fighting will lose hope. There are people who think they have been overlooked because others show off their wealth in public when they don’t even have enough to eat. He noted.

Maxwell Ofosu Boakye added that “now is the time to correct our mistakes. Some of the regional leaders need to change their attitude and come back down to make the party’s love felt at the grassroots.

He therefore condemned the regional leaders of Ashanti for having jumped champagne after the voter registration exercise of the Electoral Commission.

“Why do you have to celebrate after the voter registration exercise? People may think that you have already won the election and therefore their votes are not necessary in order not to come and vote. It was a bad decision which must be condemned, ”he stressed.
