The construction of the Eastern Regional Hospital with a capacity of 160 beds is progressing steadily, contrary to some reports which suggest that the project is at a standstill, said Seth Acheampong, the regional minister.
Mr. Acheampong said the project was being built in several phases and the method of designing and building a regional hospital took some time.
He said this when Mr. Kojo Oppong-Nkrumah, Minister of Information, met with journalists from the region in Koforidua as part of a service tour.
He called on the media to seek information on all government plans to enable them to adequately inform the public.
The Information Minister said the government’s intention is to put the economy on the right track for sustainable development after the enormous damage caused by the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
He said the government introduced the Obatanpa Care program to inject more than 100 billion cedis into the economy to help the private sector and entrepreneurs create employment opportunities.
He said the government’s plan to vaccinate over 20 million people was working according to plan with receiving vaccines from different sources, and called on the media to continue to insist on the need to adhere to COVID-19 protocols to reduce its spread. .
“So far, around 1.3 million Ghanaians have received at least the first injection of the vaccine and the government hopes that our target of 20 million will be reached by the end of the year,” he said. declared.
Oppong-Nkrumah called the kingdom’s fourth estate media outlets aiding the government by highlighting security and terrorism issues as they pose a threat to the sovereign integrity of the country.
He noted that the West African sub-region was heavily dominated by terrorist activity, but said government systems were alert, adding that it was imperative that the media play their role in a professional manner to support.
