Accra, May 1st
GNA – Some Ghanaian workers expressed confidence Wednesday in the
economy and urged the government to continue to put the general good ahead of
any other consideration.
Many said there
had been an improvement in economic performance and would like that to be
supported.

However, think that the nation should do better than it did.
These views
were voiced by workers at Black Star Square in Accra, while they
joins the rest of the world to celebrate May 1st.
President Nana
Addo Dankwa Akufo- Addo, delivered his speech on solidarity highlighting his
commitment to working with them, as equal partners, to ensure
development for the well-being of all citizens.
Vice President
Mahamudu Bawumia, ministers of state and parliamentarians were also at the table
Square.
The workers had
earlier gone in procession in the main streets of Accra before
converging in the place of independence, where they were addressed by the president
Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and the direction of work.

Mr. Ernest Osei
Adofo, president of the local industry section of the National Insurance Commission,
Commerce and Finance, said the economy was going in the right direction, but

Food and Jobs and the Nations Builders Corps (NABBCO), and stated that they were
help improve things for people.
Mr Adofo
encouraged Ghanaians to take insurance policies more seriously – to take insurance
cover for themselves and their properties.

noted, did not recognize the need for insurance prior to accidents and
described this as disturbing.
Mr Godwill
Ntamah, General Secretary of the Ghana Railway Workers' Union, urged the
government to ensure the smooth functioning of the railway sector.

Mr. Prince
William Ankrah, General Secretary of the Miners' Union, requested that
more has been done to repair bad roads and provide other vital infrastructure to
mining areas.
Recent
demonstrations of people in some mines have shown growing frustration and
the anger of the inhabitants in the face of the gravity of the situation.
He called for
strong public-private partnerships to support local economies, claiming that
nation could learn from the best practices of countries like the United States
from America, Australians and South Africans.
About 10,000
