World Water Day is held annually to highlight the importance of freshwater
The Ghana NGO Coalition for Water and Sanitation (CONIWAS) believes that Ghana may not be able to achieve Sustainable Development Goal 6 (SDG) 6. here 2030.

In an interview with Citi News, Attah Arhin, vice president of CONIWAS, said that an additional concerted effort was needed to address this troubling concern.
"We realized that some segments of the public still did not have sustainable access to [water]. So there is a lot of inequality in the system. We call on the government to reduce this inequality, which we believe could hinder our efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goal 6, which concerns water and sanitation. "
"In Ghana, people in the Greater Accra region have a 98% chance of having access to safe water, compared to 50% for people in the Northern Region. These are the challenges that we are calling the attention of the government. We must deal with it so that everyone, wherever they are, has access to sustainable water; otherwise, we will not go far, "he said.
SDG 6 calls on countries to achieve universal and equitable access to safe and affordable drinking water for all.
