Now that Marvel has announced Phase 5, it's time to wonder what will happen in the next five Marvel Cinematic Universe movies. Although it does not arrive until November 2021, we are already thinking of an important element of the Thor: love and thunder – namely, this second word. We think this might represent Valkyrie's romantic interest in the next film.
Valkyrie appeared in Thor: Ragnarok
You will remember that Valkyrie, drunk perpetually, Tessa Thompson, entered the MCU in Thor: Ragnarok. Valkyrie is not her real name – she is simply referred to by her number: Scrapper 142. She is a kind of freelancer, in charge of looking for champions for the Grand Master competition. That's how she finds Thor.
However, Valkyrie's name comes from his former job as a member of Valkyrior, a women's army that was protecting Asgard. Although she resists early, she teams up with Thor, Bruce Banner / Hulk and (to some extent) Loki in order to attack Hela.
In End of Gameshe received a new title
To the disappointment of the fans, Valkyrie was absent from Avengers: war in the infinite. Although it was not explained in detail, it appears that she escaped when Thanos boarded her ship, with many former citizens of Asgard.
In Avengers: End of the game, we see that Valkyrie took office baduming a leading role in New Asgard (located on Earth) while Thor suffers from the defeat of the Avengers against Thanos. After they finally defeat him, Thor decides to "retire", will spend time with the Guardians of the Galaxy while officially crowning Valkyrie as King of New Asgard.
Tessa Thompson spoke about Valkyrie's baduality
When the public saw the promotional material for the first time Thor: Ragnarok, many believed that there might be a romance between the god of thunder and this new character. Although this was included in a first version of the script, the editors decided to move away from it.
Although we did not see Valkyrie with a love interest, Thompson insisted that this iteration of the character be, like that of the more recent comics, bibadual. In fact, she pushed for a scene that would have shown Valkyrie's female badual partner, but she was cut off.
There was a scene, a flashback on the first time the Valkyrior fought Hela, which, according to Thompson, establishes a romantic connection. "It's a great picture of me falling from one of my sisters who has just been killed," Thompson told Rolling Stone. "In my mind, it was my lover."
Here's what we learned in San Diego Comic-Con 2019
Since Thor: RagnarokDirector Taika Waititi has been successful thanks to fans who are demanding something new in the MCU: a fourth character-centered film. After much speculation, the San Diego Comic-Con has announced that another Thor the payment is on the way – but with a twist.
In addition to Natalie Portman baduming the role of Mighty Thor, Thompson will resume his role. And, according to the actress herself, "As a new king [of Asgard]she needs to find her queen, so that will be her first business. She has ideas. Keep you posted."
Could this character of return be the queen of Valkyrie?
Thus, as promised, the MCU finally receives its first official superhero LGBTQ +. Now the question remains: who will be Valkyrie's love interest? IGN has some ideas, including the character of Portman. And another actress has already expressed interest.
Jaimie Alexander, who represented Thor's friend and companion, the Asgardian warrior Sif, willingly volunteered on Twitter. Although this has been insinuated Thor: The World of Darkness that Sif was romantically interested in Thor, we could easily see it or simply concealed it in favor of a Valkyrie-Sif relationship.
