Colonel Michael Kwadwo Opoku, director of operations at the National Security Secretariat, challenged a video that captured scenes of violence in the West Wuogon Ayawaso West Election on January 31, 2019.

After viewing the video of the scenes filmed during his appearance before the investigating committee presided over by Judge Emile Short on Wednesday, February 20, 2019, Colonel Opoku concluded that the tape had been falsified.

He told the Commission: "I saw it but not in this sequence. The precedents I've watched, we can watch it again. The immigration officer was moving when I think, the hon. Sam George was slapped, but in this situation, the reporter said something totally different.

According to him, the video made available to the Commission "is a video well falsified".

Colonel Opoku repeated, "If anyone can get the video of the first day, you will see that this one is a video tampered with."

He further warned the media against false reports and the creation of impressions that do not reflect the true representation of events.

"I do not think this video is a true reflection of what has happened, and this is what our journalists have to do with great caution, because the first footage I saw from Abelemkpe's office pointed to the death of two people".

A group of masked national security agents fired shots and injured about 16 supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), the main opposition party, in La-Bawaleshi near the country's private residence. Mr. Kwesi Delali Brempong, NDC candidate in La-Bawaleshie, just one hour after the by-election.

Ningo-Prampram MP Sam George was slapped by a security guard during the scrum.

Colonel Opoku admitted that the masked men were national security agents and revealed that the person who slapped the MP was asked to "withdraw" while the security hierarchy was examining the issue.
