Finn Balor opened the Extreme Rules disappointingly on Sunday night by dropping the Intercontinental Championship at Shinsuke Nakamura. This defeat puts an end to an already disappointing reign for Balor, the former world champion having only fought one time on television since his title defense at Super ShowDown, in early June, against Andrade .
As the title is no longer there, WWE fans have again begun to speculate on Twitter whether Balor would change his character, turn around, and join his former New Japan collaborators in The Club. .
The faction, an offshoot of the New Japan Pro Wrestling Bullet Club, was reformed several weeks ago when AJ Styles turned the corner and aligned with Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson. Styles must face Ricochet later in the evening for the US championship, and some interference from Balor would be an ideal way to kick off a heel run.

"I predict that Finn Balor will help AJ Styles beat Ricochet to win the American title tonight," a fan wrote. "Then we have a complete club reform with AJ Styles, Gallows, Anderson & Balor."

The only obstacle to the idea, at least for the moment, is that Balor is currently a member of the SmackDown roster while the rest of the club is in the rough. And if the Wild Card rule ended the split of the brand, WWE might be reluctant to create a dual-brand faction.

The idea of the union of forces has been teased many times in the past between behind-the-scenes segments and a match between Styles and Balor at TLC 2017, which ended with the sign "Too Sweet" ".
"If I could look into the future or try to predict things," Styles said in an interview with IGN in 2018. "I'd like to think that maybe we could all do something together. At some point, but you never know where things are going, but for now, I'm very interested in what I see. "
