WWE Raw: results, recaps, notes: the surprise partner of Roman Reigns, the tease of Extreme Rules by Paul Heyman

The WWE Extreme Rules annual pay-per-view is on the horizon this Sunday, and Monday's Raw in Newark, New Jersey, served as the return to the flagship show. It was also the second week of Raw, at the time of Paul Heyman, with some additional evidence that dot throughout the show that the future of Monday nights is in good hands.

On the other hand, Raw has however made some painful mistakes, such as the abuse of falls on two out of three and the provisions relating to the playoffs. Hopefully, leading to SummerSlam, we'll be able to find a much more constructive and fun way to dance around Vince McMahon's timing requirements. Now let's take a look at everything that happened Monday night in Raw's home edition of Extreme Rules.

Roman Reigns has a surprising partner

Throughout the evening leading up to the main event, Shane McMahon and Drew McIntyre have been lagging behind in their search to select Roman Reigns' partner for the team match at the main event. They approached a scavenger from the arena and a beer vendor before meeting a janitor named Gary, who was carrying a heavy box. In the locker room, McMahon and McIntyre offered Gary the $ 5,000 concierge to stand on the competition deck while being Reigns' partner. Gary agreed, with the added requirement that he wears a mask to relieve his pressure as McMahon and McIntyre are so recognizable. In the midst of all this, Reigns was interviewed behind the scenes, where he pretty much did not sell his opponent's shenanigans, knowing full well what it was all about.

Before the match, McMahon and McIntyre made a Reigns promo from the top of the stage and released Gary – now wearing his full name of Gary "The GOAT" Garbutt – under the mask, though it's clearly obvious that this partner tag was just A little shorter than the Gary we were introduced to shortly before.

Shane McMahon and Drew McIntyre def. Roman Reigns and Gary Garbutt fallingGarbutt confirmed everyone 's suspicions during the fight that he was someone else than the man we saw earlier when he pulled out an arsenal. over McMahon and McIntyre. He was finally caught with a devastating McIntyre Claymore kick before McMahon slipped into the fall, while Reigns was struck with a disability on the outside. Reigns reinstated the ring to send the heels in his suitcases, and before the show aired, it was revealed that Reigns' mysterious partner was none other than the former champion of the weights heavy Cedric Alexander.

The plot encompbading the entire series throughout the night with forgettable mini-segments made it difficult to care even less about it. Remember that it was our last gift to go back to Raw before PPV Sunday. McMahon's constant trolling is becoming boring, as is this program, as few people are justifiably interested in seeing The Undertaker enter a ring again on Sunday. That said, Alexander's final image alongside Reigns in the main segment of an episode of Raw also including a McMahon is another positive sign indicating that the Heyman era of Raw will make everything in his power to guarantee talent. are maximized to their full potential in one way or another.
