There’s a lot going on at the Royal Rumble. Not only will Goldberg challenge for Drew McIntyre’s WWE Championship, but Edge returns to the ring in the Men’s Rumble match. Not only that, he will be No. 2 – after No. 1, Randy Orton.
The Royal Rumble begins the road to WrestleMania, with the winner getting a world championship shot at WrestleMania. There will be two Rumbles this year: one male and one female. The two world championships will also be defended. In addition to the aforementioned WWE Championship bout, Kevin Owens challenges Roman Reigns’ Universal Championship.
Last years Royal Rumble totally shaken up. It featured Brock Lesnar starting at number 1 and destroying everyone – until Drew McIntyre entered the arena and Claymore kicked Lesnar out of the ring. On Sunday, WWE will attempt to recreate similar magic, but without the help of a vibrant live crowd.
Departure times
The Royal Rumble will emanate from the WWE ThunderDome, which will be held at Tropicana Field in Florida. The main card starts both days at 7 p.m. ET / 4 p.m. PT. If you’re a paid WWE Network subscriber – at $ 9.99 per month – you can watch the Royal Rumble live at no additional cost. Otherwise, you will need to contact your local cable provider.
UK viewers will have to wake up late to watch the Royal Rumble; the show starts Sunday at midnight UK time. The Royal Rumble begins for Australians at Monday at 11 a.m. AEDT.
Note that this is one of the last WWE pay-per-views that US viewers can watch on the WWE Network. From March 18, you will have to go through NBC’s Peacock Streaming Service.
