If I remember correctly, I asked last week if it was even worth booing Daniel Bryan. Let the champion take his arrogance and superior attitude to a whole new level.
Guys! They did the thing! They created a brand new championship for Bryan from organic materials! He has a title belt in hemp !!!
Bryan came to close the show to congratulate the fans. At Royal Rumble, they all won. Do you know why? Because Bryan won. Bryan's victory was a victory for fans, for their children, for their children, for all sentient beings … because he is the champion of the planet.
Good sorrow, man. Way to lay it on thick.
Bryan introduced his "intellectual peer" Erick Rowan – a beautiful Alestrom shirt, Rowan! – and scolded the crowd for not encouraging more. According to Bryan, none of us can see past Rowan's dirty nails and see the intellect inside. Because we are fickle or whatever.
The crowd let him have it too; When Bryan started telling a story about the WWE Championship and naming the dead cow for his "Daisy" creation, the crowd did everything in their power to reject it. This is a fantastic sign of Bryan's hateworthiness that a crowd would want to make him suffer. And you could see the slightest hint of annoyance on his face before five wrestlers interrupted him: AJ Styles, Randy Orton, Jeff Hardy, Mustafa Ali, and Samoa Joe.
Oh wow. Just what it takes for a match against an elimination room.
It was a very good episode of a good episode of SmackDown. Shouting at Joe for the verbal flame, he gave to everyone too.
Naka-Rusev Day?
So uh … who had R-Truth become US champion in the Cageside betting pool?
After defeating Rusev at the Royal Rumble, Shinsuke Nakamura was in our first game of the night – apparently in a quick and constructive game against R-Truth. It was a pretty ordinary match until Truth opposed a roll up … and won.
At second glance, it looked like an almost ordinary fall in a match. Nakamura broke the bug attempt at 2, but apparently, he never took off his shoulders. The referee counted three and we had a new champion.
And suddenly, Rusev came out and, just like Elias on Raw, he abruptly turned his heel. Apparently, R-Truth was not good enough to be an American champion. Rusev challenged the truth to a match – and he lost too! Nakamura and Rusev, furious at their humiliation, teamed up to strike the truth after the bell. The Good Brothers came to confront Rusev in the locker room and accused him of having treated the truth badly. They challenged Rusev and Nakamura to a match that will likely take place next week.
It's crazy how quickly WWE released these two guys from the title photo in the United States. and you know what? I do not hate him. Suddenly, the title image of the United States is cleared, which could give Samoa Joe or Mustafa Ali a first title. Maybe even a beginner EC3?
Adding Rusev and Nakamura to an already stacked team division should also allow us to secure other great matches. Besides … it was not like they were torn apart with their quarrel, right?
In all, I am cautiously optimistic. If nothing else, I think the American title needed a reset.
The rest of SmackDown Live:
Andrade makes fun of Eddie and rolls Rey Mysterio – I like the fact that WWE is willing to let Andrade be a little nervous with the Eddie thing, but this segment has not really hit home as well as it could have. Andrade has all the arrogance of the world, but it must be presented in a more annoying way, do you know what I mean?
Charlotte wants all the credit – Charlotte is salty like hell, guys. Becky Lynch hit her again at Rumble and, apparently, Charlotte overcame her disappointment by boasting of Lynch's success.
Lynch's sucker hit her in response, which led to a fight, but the story is that Lynch's leg was badly damaged. She refused medical treatment because she "can no longer afford to be on the shelves".
Mandy Rose still hates Naomi – This story of Rose sobbing was uh … it was something, right? I'm still not sure of loving or hating him. In any case, she was incredibly petty for having made a moderate comment that Naomi did for four years on Tough Enough and using it as a motivation to ruin Naomi's life. I imagine that Naomi finds a team partner for the Chamber of elimination meet.
Miz and Shane McMahon celebrate – It really hurt me. I know Miz made sure his father was not proud of his father … but I did not really need to see him on TV, you see? It's also very strange to hear Shane announce Competitor No. 1's match as if he had booked it. Maybe their reign over the title will not be as fun as the hunt.
Usos def. Heavy machinery, new day, bar – It was a fun match, but nothing was worth being too invested in emotions. Usos are the next to fight Shane and Miz. I do not expect that they win, but we will see.
You know, if it was not the Daniel Bryan segment, I would have given a bad rating. There was not a lot of struggle in the series and nothing was particularly entertaining. Fortunately, Bryan is a colossal goober and Samoa Joe can say more trash than anyone in the world.
Category B-
And now, Cageside, a few days off from the WWE. What did you leave on this episode?
