After months of Roman Reigns gaining the upper hand over Kevin Owens, the challenger is heading into the Universal Title game at Sunday’s Royal Rumble event with momentum on his side. On Friday night at SmackDown, Owens and Reigns will exchange their last words before their Last Man Standing match at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view.
Reigns was originally planning to face WWE official Adam Pearce at the PPV in revenge for Pearce booking a match between Owens and Jey Uso on SmackDown against Reigns’ wishes. However, Pearce and Owens fired a quick one on “The Tribal Chief,” which resulted in Owens getting the Universal Championship shot from Reigns. Then, last week’s SmackDown ended with Reigns’ attempt to get hold of Pearce heading south when he was brutally attacked and put across a table by Owens.
