As SummerSlam approaches, the universal championship fight between champion Roman Reigns and challenger John Cena also draws closer. The two will meet face to face on SmackDown Friday night from the Bok Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Cena made it clear his intention to face Reigns when he faced off against “The Tribal Chief” after Reigns won over Edge at Money in the Bank. Reigns refused to grant Cena the opportunity, choosing instead to face Finn Balor at SummerSlam. After the chaos during the signing of the contract for Reigns vs. Balor, Cena was able to land the contract and sign his own name instead of Balor.
With contract law not applying in the WWE world, officials said Cena’s decision made the match legitimate and Reigns vs. Cena for the Universal Championship was fixed, despite protests from Reigns and Paul Heyman .
Now Reigns will once again be in the same place as Cena – and that rarely works for the people who upset the champion.
