NEW YORK – WWE WrestleMania returns to the big city of New York 34 years after Vince McMahon made the risky decision to make its regional promotion a national milestone. WrestleMania 35, from MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, will provide insight into the impact of the artistic form and presentation of sports entertainment since the creation of the first "Showcase of Immortals" at Madison Square Garden in 1985.
For the first time in history, the women will wear the title WrestleMania: Ronda Rousey, Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch will face in a triple clash for the women's Raw and SmackDown titles in the main event winner. Kofi Kingston has an opportunity against Daniel Bryan to become the second African-American wrestler to win the WWE title. The 16-game card offers a bit of everything, although the WWE legend, The Undertaker, is not scheduled for the competition for the first time in 19 years.
Now let's take a closer look at our staff's forecasts for the WrestleMania 35 (17:00 ET on the WWE) from top to bottom.
Listen to our audio preview of WrestleMania 35 of Combat State with the podcast Brian Campbell and be sure to subscribe to the link located in the player below. We'll have an instant scan immediately after WrestleMania 35 on Sunday night.
WrestleMania 35 predictions
Cruiserweight Championship: Buddy Murphy (c) vs. Tony Nese (launch show)
Adam Silverstein, Brian Campbell and Jack Crosby: Congratulations to Nese for getting this opportunity, but he does not care about Murphy's ability or his future in the WWE. Unless the company plans to make a major change and push Murphy into the main lineup after that match, he should retain the title through pay-per-view. Murphy is a unique talent with an extremely high ceiling, and the launch show gives him a good opportunity to show it to the world with retention. Choice: Buddy Murphy retains title
Battle Royal Women (launch show)
BC, AS: After sacrificing its women's title to SmackDown over the past week so that the main event of WrestleMania 35 can be as prestigious as possible, the WWE owes Asuka a victory in this meaningless match. Overall, has the booking hurt her since she joined the main list? The only answer is the truth: you betcha. Choice: Asuka Wins Royal Battle
JC: In this game, we will have another random appearance of Lacey Evans on the ramp … and then, she will proceed to win the victory. The appearances on the tracks through Raw and SmackDown will lead to a surprise victory here in the second annual Royal Women's Battle. Vince McMahon seems to have great value for Evans and his potential, this victory is a good start for fans to start taking it seriously as a competitor – especially if his win at the end is done at the expense of Asuka . Choice: Lacey Evans Wins Royal Battle
Royal Commemorative Battle André le Géant (launch show)
BEFORE CHRIST: It's still hard to guess which WWE mid-card actor will decide to put it in the spotlight by booking them to win this game. This year, the crews of EC3 and Apollo would respond perfectly to this expectation. But let 's not forget Strowman, who was dealing with two actors of "Saturday Night Live" and who saw his bright star darken to an almost embarrbading level on WWE booking. Nor should we forget that things had not improved for him last year when he had been forced to team up with a child chosen out of the public at WrestleMania 34. The Less than the WWE can do is let it win this trophy, because it is obvious that the company does not intend to push the title anytime soon and sees Strowman only as an attraction. Choice: Braun Strowman wins the Royal Battle Battle André le Géant
AS, JC: These battle royals become messy. Consider that the WWE led the same four men in an American feud for weeks, and then picked only two in a series game. Then Braun Strowman goes nowhere with Michael Che and Colin Jost's "Saturday Night Live" crew. In the end, I do not think Strowman will win this thing because it makes no sense to him. The guys at SNL could somehow cost him dearly, and he could destroy them accordingly. The only person in this match who could really enjoy a "moment" is Andrade, who has all the potential in the world, but who remains just an afterthought. Choice: Andrade wins the Royal Battle Battle André le Géant
Raw Tag Team Championship: The rebirth (c) against Zack Ryder & Curt Hawkins
JC, BC, AS: Talk on short notice – this match was officially announced three days before WrestleMania. Nevertheless, it is nice to see that The Revival will get the brilliance of the WrestleMania stage. However, what many may not like is that it finally seems to serve as a climax to the plot "Curt Hawkins can not stop losing." It seems obvious that one of the "WrestleMania moments" that will reign early in the day will be the image of Hawkins breaking this sequence while ensuring that he and Ryder are champions again. Election: Zack Ryder and Curt Hawkins win titles
SmackDown Tag Team Championship: The Usos (c) vs. Ricochet & Aleister Black vs. Bar vs. Rusev and Shinsuke Nakamura
BC, JC: As a reflection of the fatal match of the women's team title to four in the same card, it is difficult to consider this match as anything other than a way to get as many big names as possible on the map. Will it be entertaining? Probably. That does not mean it should happen. Ricochet & Black, for example, look great after the strong reservation received since their listing on the main list. However, it makes little sense, from the point of view of logic or scenario, to obtain the titles of their teams with Raw, SmackDown and NXT during the same week, not to mention the same semester. In the end, look for Usos to keep. Choice: the usos keep the titles
AS: The Usos should come out of this game as defending and defending champions. But the WWE, which places Ricochet & Black in this game – when it could have just as easily brought the deserving Hardy Boyz, who seemed ready for a solo opportunity – is curious. This will be the third match for Ricochet & Black in seven days. They lost a chance against Raw's titles on Monday, and I'm waiting for them to fail Saturday against War Machine. It would be strange for them to go 0-3. Choice: Ricochet & Aleister Black win titles
Kurt Angle (farewell match) against Baron Corbin
BC, JC: Let's hope the WWE has been watching us from the beginning, including the almost unthinkable idea of having Corbin in the main match during Raw's come-back episode. Whether retired or not, it's a game that fans simply do not want to see. Hoping that Angle does Corbin's work fairly quickly to make a plea for another challenge be answered (with "ruthless aggression") by John Cena. It's too perfect not to reach. Choice: Kurt Angle wins
AS: All that WWE has done up to "Mania" suggests that Angle will pbad Corbin in his so-called "farewell match". While many believe that WWE has planned to make a gap with John Cena or another person taking the place of Corbin, we must predict the match as it was actually unfolding. If this were to be the case, Angle would be wrong to compete with an opponent who is close to his heart, even if he does a great job at the microphone heel and that he's improved considerably on the ring. In this case, when you get away, you go out on your back. That's what Angle should be doing here as he faces Corbin and goes off. Choice: Baron Corbin wins
The Miz vs. Shane McMahon (The Falls Matter Anywhere)
JC, BC, AS: Given his recent actions, McMahon has a good list of shots to play, and he will get that from Miz. This quarrel is not likely to go any further, with WrestleMania playing the kick-off role of what began at the very beginning of the event. In fact, I'm more intrigued by what's going on after this quarrel ends. Babyface Miz has been amazing to watch – but at the same time it has been placed in front of a McMahon heel, which usually makes it easier to become a fan favorite. Does babyface Miz – who has already tried and failed – can support the public before the summer? I guess we'll see. Choice: Miz wins
Women's Team Championship: Sasha Banks and Bayley (c) against Beth Phoenix and Natalya against Nia Jax and Tamina against the IIconics
AS, BC, JC: The WWE wanted to give the boss Boss' N Hug the honor of being the first female team champion. It's great. They too should be out of WrestleMania with the titles. Too often, WWE strives to change titles. Just look at the history of the Intercontinental and American Championships in recent months. The new titles must be held by their first champions for at least 3 to 4 months, and no other result really makes sense here. It would be nice to see Phoenix in this match, but his victory, with Natalya, would be very tempting. Choices: Sasha Banks & Bayley retain titles
United States Championship: Samoa Joe (c) against Rey Mysterio
JC, BC, AS: Boy, the American title has been raging recently, but you will not find many who will complain about seeing these two players face one-on-one on the biggest stage of the year. . It's hard to choose, but in the end, you can not defeat Joe's US championship so quickly after finally winning a singles title in the main line-up. The Samoan submission machine will be kept here and, in fact, it could be just the beginning of the quarrel. For Joe's loyalty, look for Mysterio's son, Dominic, who recently started training for a career in the industry, to consume Joe's abuse to generate heat. Choice: Samoa Joe retains title
Intercontinental Championship: Bobby Lashley (c) vs. Finn Balor
JC, BC, AS: First of all, whether you agree with Balor to create the Demon character for Lashley, it happens whether you like it or not. Secondly, because of the Demon character emerging in the MetLife stadium, there is no reason for Balor to leave his double intercontinental champion. Choice: Finn Balor wins title
AJ Styles against Randy Orton
JC, BC: Since Styles came to WWE a little over three years ago, most fans aspire to a quarrel between him and Orton simply because it's perhaps the safest badumption at world that their chemistry in the ring will be exceptional. Over the past few weeks, they have shown on SmackDown Live that the chemical composition of the microphone is present. It is therefore time to discover that the current badumptions are correct. If it is as incredible as one might think, it really should be just the beginning of a collaboration between these two industry veterans. This could be a memorable quarrel of the spring-summer period, starting with an Orton win at WrestleMania to begin the trip. Choice: Randy Orton wins
AS: The faces go to WrestleMania, and Styles taking Orton makes sense from the point of view of booking. Orton, opposing Styles' phenomenal forearm to an RKO at the last SmackDown, announced the match's arrival. As Styles has done in the past, he will fake the shot, sending Orton to the canvas, allowing him to hit the finishing maneuver for 1-2-3. Choice: AJ Styles wins
Triple H vs. Batista (Draw, Menacing career)
BC, JC, AS: Once the stipulation added that Triple H would be forced to retire with a defeat, Batista's chance of winning the match seemed to be falling behind. This is not a problem because the story has been so brilliantly told until now – without the two touching each other once – that both participants deserve praise for the quality of their work. the reservation. The match is essentially sauce at this stage. A defeat for Batista is perfectly appropriate from the point of view of the story, provided that his character newly refined heel is allowed to return for more business. Choice: Triple H wins
Roman Reigns against Drew McIntyre
AS, BC, JC: The absence of Reigns for four months caused by her real fight against leukemia – which is now in remission – is inspiring. The fact that he has publicly made his fight and revealed his soul to the world is commendable. But now that he's back in the square circle, it's important to take an badytical look at his future as a face of society. The WWE has been deceived in the past by pushing Reigns too far and never letting him face the greatest adversity: losing. In McIntyre, the WWE naturally built a legitimate heel, able to compete with Reign's size and ability – and gives it an advantage in terms of working in the microphone. In doing so, WWE has given itself the ability to tell an incredible story. While McIntyre would book his tickets at WrestleMania while Reigns was at the rendezvous – contrary to what happened in the past, fans would cheer him up this Sunday – the WWE must stand apart from his past. intuition here. The story to tell is not that Reigns is triumphant on his return but rather to show that he is not yet ready for prime time. The best booking is that McIntyre defeats Reigns in a tight match, putting McIntyre in contention for new potential champion Seth Rollins and leaving Reigns back on top as a real face and underdog. The WWE could even ask McIntyre to win the Rollins title, hosting a McIntyre-Reigns match at WrestleMania 36 in Tampa, where Reigns calls home. Do not think, WWE. Just do it. Choice: Drew McIntyre wins
WWE Championship: Daniel Bryan (c) vs. Kofi Kingston
AS, JC: It's hard to believe that the three opponents of the three biggest matches of "Mania will come out victorious. If we expect Becky Lynch and Seth Rollins to go together, it will leave Kingston in the dust. But anyone who watched the SmackDown Live edition of Go-Home on Tuesday saw Kingston being serenaded by the crowd to a level perhaps higher than Lynch's on Road to WrestleMania. It's one thing for Kingston to get its first game head-to-head with the WWE in 11 years; this is another opportunity for him to get out of the competition as the first WWE champion born in Africa. The Met Life stadium would explode if Kingston pbaded over Bryan and, in the end, I think this is a moment too important for the WWE. Election: Kofi Kingston Wins Title
BEFORE CHRIST: If this match had been chosen to close the card, a victory in Kingston would have seemed automatic. But WWE often likes to delay the inevitable with one last attempt to get critical fans to believe that they will never capitalize on what lies before them. Considering that Vince McMahon made Kingston's journey so difficult in the scenario, look for him to do it again, while Bryan retains the title. Two nights later at SmackDown, Kingston may finally have its time. Choice: Daniel Bryan retains title
World Championship: Brock Lesnar (c) against Seth Rollins
BC, AS: WWE President Vince McMahon did not hesitate to wait until Roman Reigns was forced to leave last fall for his fight against leukemia. But it's time for Raw's most prestigious title to go beyond "The Beast" and lead to quarrels between Drew McIntyre and Reigns. Rollins is the perfect champion to tell the story there, especially if it involves the dissolution of his friendship with Reigns. The former teammates of the Shield have the opportunity to be the Austin-Rock of this generation in terms of creation of the definitive fief. All it takes is the confidence of McMahon to be able to let Lesnar return to the UFC without the red belt around the waist. It's time. Pick: Seth Rollins wins title
JC: I must admit that even after his spectacular victory last January at the Royal Rumble, I was skeptical about Rollins "killing the beast". The lackluster construction of this program, coupled with other moments of well-being on this map, such as Becky Lynch closing the festivities as a two-time champion and Kofi Kingston completing his eleven-year WWE Championship career, have turned into a full-on skeptic: "Rollins certainly does not win this game." Everything with Vince McMahon can not be a happy ending, and it will serve as proof tonight. Rollins will deploy valiant efforts, but some Lesnar F5s will take the life of MetLife Stadium – and, of course, the Internet – for a short time. Choice: Brock Lesnar retains title
The winner wins everything – Raw, Women's SmackDown Championships: Ronda Rousey (c) vs. Charlotte Flair (c) vs. Becky Lynch
BC, JC, AS: It's not a hyperbole to call this the most important match in the history of women's wrestling. When you add the intensity shown during Monday's go-home episode of Raw, you can expect nothing less than a clbadic. But with Rousey's expected release after Sunday (or, at the very least, a significantly reduced schedule), it only makes sense to send fans home happy with the biggest babyface pop. That means a Lynch victory that would justify everything the WWE did to appease him in the months following the Internet bankruptcy by attacking Rousey and giving her the bloody face of Nia Jax. It is time for "The Man" to have time to close this historic event. Choice: Becky Lynch wins the titles
