Arsenal winger Xavier Amaechi has completed his move to Hamburg after signing a four-year contract with the German second division club.
Hamburg will pay fees in excess of € 2.5 million (plus £ 2.25 million), plus several million performance additions, while Arsenal has a sell clause but no option redemption.
The 18 year old young British international, who pbaded a medical exam on Saturday before getting his hands on a pen, will wear the jersey 17 at the Volksparkstadion.
Amaechi refused a number of prestigious contenders and an offer to extend his contract with Arsenal, who was still one year old.
He has received approaches from Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Inter Milan, Nice, Hertha Berlin and the Championship, as well as the late interest of four Premier League teams.
Hamburg was part of a dozen German companies who had been closely monitoring Amaechi since early 2019 and their argument against the Bath – born striker proved decisive.
Sports Director Dieter Hecking and Sports Director Jonas Boldt, both recently appointed, have embarked on a project that will allow Amaechi to be used as a regular starter on one of the flanks.
Amaechi left Fulham to join Arsenal in 2013 and is considered one of the most promising talents in English football, although he has not made his first appearance yet.
He was injured during his 2018-1920 campaign, but he made his friendly debut in a friendly match during his trip to Dubai late in the season. He was also part of the Gunners Group for the final of the Europa League in Baku. .
Hamburg regarded Amaechi as an ideal recruit for his promotion bid, and the player considered it the ideal place to continue his development.
The only team to have played every Bundesliga season since the league was established in 1963, Hamburg was relegated for the first time a year ago.
They finished fourth in 2018-2019, but their home care attendance averaged nearly 50,000 people.
