The leadership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has invited a key member of the Ashanti region party, Joseph Yamin, about his comment that the party will not dissolve the self-defense groups badociated with them.
The party has since dissociated from Yamin's claims.
Yammin, former deputy minister of sports under the Mahama government, said that according to the press, the main opposition would ignore the calls of the president to the two main parties to dissolve their self-defense groups or organizations badociated with them.
In a statement signed by his secretary general, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, the NDC said that the position of the former deputy regional minister of Ashanti does not represent the party's views on the threat of self-defense.
"The National Democratic Congress has seen several media publications attributed to a party member, Mr. Joseph Yammin, under the title:" The NDC will not dissolve Hawks today, tomorrow or ever. "
"The NDC Executive Committee wishes to state unequivocally that the above statement in no way represents the views and / or position of the party. The party wishes to reiterate its unwavering commitment to the process of dissolution of all groups of political militia or militia in the country.
"Our position on this issue is well known and has been extensively discussed in the recent correspondence of our National President, Mr. Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, with the President of the Republic of Ghana. As a law-abiding and peace loving party, we will continue to support and participate in any effort to end the culture of political violence.
