Yammin attributes Akufo-Addo's "difficulties" to a series of kidnappings

A former deputy minister of the Ashanti region, Joseph Yammin, attributed the recent wave of kidnappings in Ghana to what he calls "painful economic hardship" under the chairmanship of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo -Addo, according to MyNewsGh.com.

In a program covered by MyNewsGh.com, Mr. Yammin said that the lack of youth employment, combined with the difficulties encountered under Akufo-Addo, may have forced some of these young people to kidnap for ransom.

Priscilla Mantebea Koranchie, Priscilla Blessing Bentum and Ruth Love Quayson were kidnapped and still have not been released, although their family paid ransom money to the kidnappers, as reported by MyNewsGh.com.

A Nigerian – Samuel Udoetuk Wills, the main suspect in the case, was arrested and placed in custody. He also opened an investigation into information suggesting that another person would have been apprehended in connection with the kidnapping in the area.

According to reports, a boy kidnapped in Takoradi last week was found dead in a bush, although the police have not yet confirmed whether it was an abduction.

But Mr. Joseph Yammin, who was addressing leaders and members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Gyinyase in the Asokwa constituency at an event covered by MyNewsGh.com, described the President Nana Addo as a threat to national security responsible for kidnappings.

According to Joseph Yammin, Ghanaians are going through difficult times by forcing young people to engage in illegal activities to feed on such acts that are beginning to infect them.

"Under President Akufo-Addo, kidnappings have invaded the country. Things that have not happened since independence now occur under the administration of Nana Addo. People are doing all kinds of illegal work to get money because of the economic difficulties of President Akufo-Addo, "he said.

Joseph Yammin added that the youth unemployment rate had skyrocketed due to the collapse of companies under Nana Addo.

"Businesses have been collapsed, others are about to collapse. Workers were fired, which led to an increase in the unemployment rate. Exporters can no longer export while importers can not import.
