Yellen describes vaccines as the ‘strongest stimulus’ to the global economy in G-20 letter

Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said on Thursday that vaccinations were the most powerful stimulus countries can provide to the global economy, in a letter to the Group of 20 countries. “A rapid and truly global immunization program is the most powerful stimulus we can provide to the global economy,” Yellen told colleagues in the organization, which includes China and India. The Treasury Secretary urged G-20 countries to increase their support for programs designed to deliver vaccines to all regions of the world, and also called on them to pursue “important fiscal and financial policy actions” to support the economic recovery.
