Yingli Namene Solar West Africa aims to become the first company providing solar powered solutions to businesses in the country.
The general manager of the company, Mr. Firmin Nkaleu Ngbadam, said that Yingli Namene Solar West West Africa hoped to achieve this by investing in the appropriate technology, providing customers with high quality products and services and innovating in the sector of solar energy.
He told GRAPHIC BUSINESS in Accra that, although it was founded early in September 2017, the company had successfully completed flagship projects and had since gained the trust of local companies.
He mentioned the rooftop installation of a capacity of 400.4 kilowatts (kWp) for the bottling facility of the Kasapreko Company Limited in Tema, the installation of 40 kW solar energy systems in three branches of Stanbic Bank Ghana and a similar project of 66 kWp for the PIPPA health center in Accra. Projects that so far distinguish the company from its peers.

Mr Ngbadam commented on the paper on the sidelines of a seminar organized by Yingli Namene Solar West Africa for postgraduate students from the Tuck School of Business at Darmouth College, New Hampshire (USA). ;America).
Students are in the country for an educational visit as part of their studies.

Challenges with politics
Ngbadam commended the government for creating an enabling environment through a policy and regulation that allows solar energy companies to operate.
He added that by putting in place the appropriate policy and regulatory framework, Ghana was well placed to attract more investment in the solar energy and renewable energy sector by general.
He noted, however, that the suspension of the net billing code, which allowed private consumers to export surplus electricity to the national grid and use it when they needed it, hindered the operations of companies like his.
He therefore hoped that the readjustments in progress would be completed soon to allow the start of the metering system.
Reason for the tour
Mr. Miguel D. Ramirez, Associate Director, Logistics and Operations, said, "The potential of renewable energy in Ghana is huge if you think about the sun that Ghana receives and if you think about the demand, not just in Accra and in big cities, but also rural areas. "
This, he said, has provided exciting moments for companies such as Yingli Namene, which provide renewable energy solutions to businesses.
He added that Ghana would benefit from developing a mini-grid using these potentials to stimulate growth and feed more households.
He noted that, despite the many perspectives, challenges are plentiful, and therefore called for innovative solutions to help remove barriers to liberalization of renewable energy investments.
