Kpando Della Sowah MP questioned the resignation of Yaw Osafo-Maafo who served as senior minister under Akufo-Addo’s first government.
According to her, Akufo-Addo’s tenure ended with that of his ministers on January 6, so there are currently no ministers in the country until new appointments are made.
She adds that Yaw Osafo-Maafo’s position as senior minister is non-existent and therefore questioned the basis on which he resigned.
Speaking in an interview with GhanaWeb, she said that “the mandate of the Akufo-Addo government expired on January 6 and it ended with all ministers working on this particular regime. Nobody can therefore continue in this position because in fact your position does not exist. Osafo-Maafo’s resignation is therefore without effect. Osafo-Maafo is a former senior minister, so what did he resign from? “
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s first-term prime minister, Yaw Osafo-Maafo, has reportedly given notice of his decision to step down entirely from the post and the government.
Asaase.com reports that the senior politician informed Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo of his decision to step down from her post.
His announced exit follows calls for him to be excluded from President Akufo-Addo’s second term.
Under his supervision, the National Strategy for Public Sector Reform (NPSRS), which is to be implemented between 2018 and 2023, was developed.
His office was also instrumental in implementing the government’s Ghana Beyond Aid program.
He has been embroiled in a series of controversies, however, including the $ 1 million Kroll and Associates deal.
This agreement which was uncovered by the Auditor General, Daniel Yaw Domelevo, is said to be one of the reasons why Domelevo was forced to go on leave.
